today definitely felt like a monday
a little rushed, disorganized, hurried, and blah - all at the same time.
but today did also have a couple of really good moments.
this first good moment happened when the kids and i hopped in the car to head to the post office.
but first i have to back-up to sunday afternoon when jake and ben cleaned out the car
(very thoughtful i might add).
they finished cleaning and found that the front passenger side window would not go back up.
bummer - seems like there's always something happening to our "well-loved-almost-vintage" vehicles.
but thanks to my diy husband a how-to video of replacing the window part was found,
and he was going to order the part from our local oreilly's today.
so now we're back to the trip to the post office.
just for fun i thought i would try roll up the window while we were driving -
maybe it would work.
no luck.
oh well, i thought.
and then we were stopped at a light, and i looked down and noticed the child safety lock was on.
i flipped the button to off and UP went the window.
UP. DOWN. UP. DOWN.
i quickly called jake with the good news.
the other highlight of today was mailing a birthday present to my friend nikki.
my friend mandy and i were planning on sending a gift together,
but weren't too excited about any of the ideas we came up with so i decided to make something.
i've been wanting to make rolled paper flowers for awhile now.
i used this tutorial for a guide and really enjoyed making a such a special gift.
and i can't wait to make some more!
(please excuse the so-so photos - took the inside late last night)

102.7
no, i'm not talking about a radio station.
that was ben's temperature this morning at 7am when he woke up crying.
poor little guy!
so our week started out with a dose of tylenol.
a bed of blankets, pillows and a bean bag on the floor.
his favorite kid videos.
apple juice and dry corn pops.
i am thankful i already had a dr appt scheduled this afternoon and the dr was kind enough to take a look at ben too.
looks like it's a couple of days of rest, more tylenol and liquids.
hopefully we'll all be feeling well for thanksgiving.
and no - we still have no idea if baby sister will be here with us by then or not.
she seems to be content where she is for the moment.
after bath tonight we loaded ben up to go drive through our local Christmas light display in the park.
it was a nice way to relax and keep his mind off not feeling well.
(even though i still think it is nice to wait until after Thanksgiving to turn Christmas lights on)
gobble! gobble!
hope your thanksgiving week is off to a great start!

friday morning
this morning we were busy...
playing at the park with friends,
going to the grocery store,
and visiting the library.
a nice way to wrap up the week.
along with consuming mass quantities of green olives,
my other guilty pleasure this pregnancy is ice water with LOTS of ice cubes.
not something someone with a history of dental work should probably be munching on.
and yes, we still get ice by filling trays in this house. :)
hope you have a cool holiday weekend.
we are looking forward to a sunday forecast with highs in the upper 70s!!!
maybe fall will arrive soon,
see you next week...

thursday morning
this morning i had my 28 week appointment - all is well with baby girl!
jake was able to stay at home with ben, which made it a little easier.
and since i wasn't busy keeping ben occupied during my appointment, i actually had time to discuss a few things with the doctor.
always puts my mind at ease to ask a few questions - even if this isn't my first pregnancy.
i did have to get the rh factor shot though - not a fun one!
but i'm also a wimp with needles. :)
speaking of needles...
i've also been making a little time for something i really love doing...
stitching by hand.
i don't usually follow any pattern and i don't know a lot of different stitches,
but i really enjoy the simplicity of fabric, thread and a needle.
oh, did you notice - i didn't mention cleaning today either???
maybe i'll start my "room a day" plan again next week...

wednesday morning
this morning was pretty relaxed.
jake was home - not by choice, but with a relapsed back problem.
and after ben having a low fever and congestion yesterday, we stuck around the house too.
oh, and i totally flunked at my goal to clean a room each day!
today was bathroom day (yuck!) on my list, but it was much easier to put if off until tomorrow.
however, ben and i did manage to sort and take recycling and i did two loads of laundry -
so that has to count for something, right?
tonight i'm making a hot tea and heading to bed - think i might have the little bug that hit ben.
i can't think of anything that frustrates me more than not feeling well in the heat of the summer,
and when i have a calendar full of things to do.
i think this usually happens when i get a little too intense about being productive and forget to be content.
there is much to be thankful for in everyday.
tonight i'll fall asleep counting my blessings...

monday morning
this morning was definitely the best part of our day...
let's just say things went downhill after lunch, so i'm glad we had a positive start to the day.
i'm trying to pick one room a day to clean - not a "deep" clean - just the basics.
and hoping this might keep the housework from piling up and taking an entire day.
today the "room of the day" was ben's bedroom - soon to be shared with little sister.
i also hope to use this as a "before" photo,
because i do have some plans for updating and decorating before november. :)
i love this look - i know he was ready to be done and a little frustrated that i made him put all the trains in the bin while we cleaned the table and vacuumed underneath.
this morning was quite nice so after cleaning we spent the rest of the morning outside.
not sure why the tricycle doesn't stay on the driveway or why he still insists on scooting with his feet and not peddling - but he does.
that's just ben. :)
and i love him.
and this is ben's dog at the moment - her name is casey.
i know he would love a real dog.
we hope to see if we can make that happen sometime later next year, but casey will have to do for now.
like i said - the rest of the day, not so peachy.
and i am very thankful for the chance to start a new day tomorrow.
time for a glass of milk and a cookie, and the last fifty pages of The Help.
good night!
