we had a pretty good halloween around here,
but even with trying to simplify (we only went to one "treat event") the candy meter here is off the charts!
here's how they looked last night -
the robot (great costume - made by dad!) and the pink bunny.
thanks to all of our family that sent wonderful treats in the mail to the kids as well.
it was a fun holiday!
well, at least for kids...

another busy weekend
our weekend was spent mostly around the house.
cleaning, cooking, and doing some household projects.
we were pretty busy, but still found some time to do some halloween crafts, watch a football game, play a couple games of candyland and go to the park.
my favorite "chore" of the weekend - cleaning our bedroom.
because i changed the quilt on our bed for the fall and winter - and put on the flannel sheets!
in with the crisp bright stars and out with the flower garden.
sometimes a simple change can make such a difference.
and is even better when you don't have to spend anything. :)

yesterday we made our trip to the local pumpkin patch.

and a quick bathroom update...
the yucky carpet is gone, and even though there is still some final finishing work to get done before we say we the first half of this bathroom remodel done,
we should be showering and taking baths

trick-or-treat
Charlie Brown had a wonderful Halloween.
Heading out around the neighborhood.
It was so fun to watch him stand at the door - just waiting.
Waiting for the candy of course.
What else could make a 2 year old stand perfectly still?
Happy Halloween!

it's the great pumpkin, charlie brown
Every year I look forward to the Charlie Brown holiday shows.
It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown & A Charlie Brown Christmas are my favorites.
I feel like a kid again. :)
This year I went a step further...
It was so easy to make this!
Great if you're short on time and wanting to save money.
I spent less than $5 on the shirt and black fabric, and Ben is carrying his football.
There is no hat, no make-up and it is easily adaptable to changing Kansas weather conditions - shorts, jeans, undershirt, etc.
Are you making a costume? Please share - I'd love to see.
Ben was Super Ben last year.
And just in case you were wondering, you can watch It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, Thursday, October 28, at 7pm CST on ABC.

pumpkins and fall decorating
First, let me say my day started by looking at this blog post.
My heart melted!
Unruh Photography is amazing and does an awesome job of capturing the moment.
Now back to pumpkins...
Today we went with a friend to Harvest Farm & Pumpkin Patch.
It was a great time!
We also made some new friends while we were there.
There were lots of things to do. In fact, we were so busy doing things that I only grabbed some shots of us leaving.
That's Ben in the loaded wagon, heading to the car with our finds.
Now our home is looking a little more like fall...
The gourds on the fireplace are some of my favorite things. I bought them a few years ago. They are dried, stained and sealed, so I can use them every year. :)
I like the way the little pumpkins and gourds look in the bowl.
Jake's folks are updating their kitchen and his Mom has been busy sorting things - and passing some on to new homes.
So I brought home a few items (three bowls) last weekend. They are all being put to good use. :)
I hope to do a few more fall decorating projects - like switching out my variegated spider plant for a mum, and throwing out my pink begonias - but I think we're off to a good start.
Happy Friday!

Then we went to lunch at Carolyn's Essenhaus.
I can't believe we haven't gone there before. It was wonderful!
Yes, that's Ben - eating an individual butter from the bowl of them on our table.

back to work
Way too much time has gone between postings! My goodness - I just don't know where the time goes. I am still working hard on my sewing projects and starting my shop, but I haven't been quite as productive lately. I think I can say this is mostly due to the fact I haven't been feeling well, and this is because we are happy to announce we are expecting. We are extremely excited and look forward to becoming a family of four in the fall!
It's also funny that I was pregnant just two years ago with our first, but I have forgotten just how tired and sick I could feel. Just trying to remember it's only temporary and stick with my goals for my little shop. I know it will happen - and soon.
I also wanted to try my hand at posting photos so I thought I'd start with a project from last fall - Halloween costume for Ben. It was really fun and easy, and I was happy with the results. Here is SUPER BEN... (or Super Baby)
