learning to blog
I plan to work on my blog layout and design for the next few weeks.
This is all quite new to me and taking a little time to figure out.
Thanks for your patience and support!

county fair
Last week was the our local County Fair. We went twice - once during the week and again on Saturday with visiting grandparents. We saw animals, 4-H projects and many other things, but the carousel was the favorite. This was his second time riding one, and it took no time at all for him to feel comfortable on it. As you can see, he thoroughly enjoyed it (and so did Mom and Dad).

peaches
A friend gave us a huge box of peaches earlier this week. We hate to let food go to waste and there was no way to eat them all before they spoiled, so... I made a peach cobbler (with the cookbook pictured - it's awesome) and then we stayed up late blanching, peeling, slicing and freezing peaches. It always seems like extra work, but it is definitely worth it. They will be wonderful later this fall and winter.

solar power
When we bought our house two years ago, I was very excited about the existing clothesline - and I still am. It's wonderful! On a hot, windy day (this is easy to find during a summer in Kansas) our laundry is dry in no time. Not to mention that I love using a little less power, the clothes smell great and I get a little more exercise (our laundry room is in our basement).
Gotta love the simple things!
Hope you all find a few of them this summer.
